Get To Know Our Program

I offer a structured self-rescue swim program in Altamonte Springs, designed to help children develop essential water safety skills, independence, and confidence in the water.  Through short, high-frequency lessons children learn to float, breathe, and respond if they ever reach the water alone.

With one-on-one instruction, each child progresses step-by-step in a consistent, supportive environment.

This program is ideal for families who want their children to build strong, reliable, water safety skills and gain confidence in and around the water, and give parents greater peace of mind.

Meet Your Instructor

I'm a native Floridian and the owner and instructor behind Fins Up Swim School.  I've always had a love for the water and for teaching but found myself in office roles that didn't feel aligned with my purpose.  In 2022, I took a leap of faith and started Fins Up to build something more meaningful around what I truly love.

Living in Florida, water is a part of everyday life, but so is the risk.  Drowning rates have continued to rise in recent years, and it remains the leading cause of accidental death for children ages 1-4 in our state.  While constant supervision and pool barriers are essential, swim lessons provide another critical layer of protection.

At Fins Up, my focus is on teaching self-rescue and water safety skills in a way that builds both confidence and independence.  My goal is to equip each child with the ability to respond in the water and give families greater peace of mind.

Hi, I’m Mabel!

Certified through the American Red Cross in Lifeguarding, Water Safety Instruction (WSI) and CPR/First Aid/AED.

I’m a native Floridian and am the owner and lead instructor of Fins Up Swim School. I’ve always had a love for the water and teaching but transitioned directly into office work after graduating and struggled to find my “why” and purpose in the roles I was taking on. In 2022, I decided to take a leap of faith and start Fins Up so that I could do something that I love.

Every year families all over suffer tragic pool accidents that could have been prevented by implementing layers of safety. In addition to constant supervision and pool barriers, swim lessons are an additional line of defense to protect your family.

I started Fins Up because I am passionate about teaching water safety while making learning to swim fun. My goal is to equip my students with the confidence and water safety skills needed to master independent swimming and help reduce the risk of a tragic accident for your family.

Mabel did such a great job providing swim lessons to my 9-month-old baby girl. She was so wonderful to work with and very accommodating. I will definitely do it again in the future.

Lesnick Family

I’m so glad we chose Fins Up for our son! Not only does he look forward to his lessons, but he has learned so much. She gained Ollie’s trust quickly and we felt so comfortable. They are experienced, professional, and the best at what they do. I can’t recommend them enough! Thank you, Fins Up, for giving us the peace of mind of knowing our son has all the tools he needs.

Zamora Family

Our son absolutely loves Ms. Mabel! She gained quick rapport with him (despite his usual shyness with strangers) and we have been so pleased with our lessons thus far. Highly recommend!!!!
